The research group of Prof. Mikhail Kats in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Wisconsin - Madison engages in experimental and theoretical exploration of topics across the fields of optics and photonics, device physics, and nanoscale science. The primary goals of the group are to investigate fundamental problems in optics and photonics and to create next generation optical components to emit, modulate, and detect light across the visible and infrared spectral ranges.

Past research accomplishments include the invention and development of flat optical components based on metasurfaces, ultra-thin optical coatings using highly-absorbing materials, and dynamically tunable plasmonic nanostructures.

Please see the Publications page or Mikhail's Google Scholar profile or CV for the most recent achievements of the group.
